Week 7 - Back to Programming


Week 7 was highlighted by a renewed focus on programming as I had some extra time to work while in between jobs. 

  • Created an Inventory tool to track the player's inventory. 
    • Added fuel and metal tracking.
  • Created a research tool. 
    • There are 3 things to research. Fuel, Repairs, and Navdata
      • Researching Navdata is a requirement to finish the demo
    • Research tool passively generates points based on the combined research skill of the "active" research teams. 
    • Still no UI or ability to control the research. It just automatically starts for now
  • Added the first 3 missions of the demo.
    • Primary planet with crashed ship. 
      • Step 1 - Science check to turn the ship on and discover what is missing
      • Step 2 - recover 50 units of fuel and metal for repairs (on other planets) as well as research Navdata
      • Step 3 - Combat check once the ship is operational. This will be the final step of the demo.
    • Combat Mission to steal fuel supplies
    • Trade Mission to trade for raw metal
  • Added a Mission Log feature that will dynamically be altered depending on the results of the missions.
  • Added a Planet Select feature that lets me chose which planet we go to
